YEPP IRC provides a series of training and consultancy services to communities outside the YEPP Community Network. It is composed of theme-based workshops, training manuals and e-learning tools, as well as individualised coaching. Within the framework of the “YEPP” approach and methodology, our training and consultancy services are tailor-made and adapted to meet the target group’s needs, objectives and local realities.
The YEPP Concept of Change is a long-term engagement with a process and model that has taken more than 10 years to develop and has been proven to empower communities and individuals that make up those communities.
The YEPP Concept of Change is designed as a package for those communities outside the YEPP Community Network that wish to implement the “YEPP” approach and methodology and become a YEPP Local Site. It includes the training and coaching on the YEPP Concept of Change – a holistic, systemic and needs-oriented approach which is a model for working towards community and youth empowerment in a participatory way while using close cross-sectorial partnerships. Part of the package is the YEPP Practitioners’ Handbook - a practical step-by-step guide on how to implement the YEPP Concept of Change. It was published in two editions: the first edition in 2003 and the second edition in 2009.
The Concept of Change package is planned as a long-term training and coaching process with a series of transnational and local support measures. It reflects the multi-level approach to integrated work at local, regional, national and transnational level. Ultimately, it is a tool to build strategic alliances at local level to advocate for policies in support of youth and community empowerment, social inclusion and active citizenship of disadvantaged young people while at the same time supporting stakeholders to carry out international policy and advocacy work to sustain social changes.
The Participatory YEPP Monitoring and Evaluation is part of the YEPP Concept of Change. It is based on the Participatory YEPP Monitoring and Evaluation (PYME) design and offers a solid methodological framework as well as practical applications for participatory monitoring and evaluation of activities by community groups.
In the YEPP Network, monitoring and evaluation at local level is supported by an Evaluation Facilitator. The ultimate goal of Participatory YEPP Monitoring and Evaluation is to ensure that young people play an active role in evaluating their progress towards outputs (short-term results) and outcomes (long-term changes). In this regard, the YEPP Monitoring and Evaluation approach serves as a powerful tool of youth and community empowerment.
A Participatory YEPP Monitoring and Evaluation package offers training and coaching on the “YEPP” approach and methodology of monitoring and evaluation. Part of the package is the Manual for Evaluation Facilitators which contains the guidelines, toolbox and best practice examples on implementing the “PYME” design in different European communities.
This is a transnational training course for youth leaders, youth workers, trainers and teachers willing to explore the methodologies, values and ethics of creating interesting and valuable digital media content with young people. The course is followed by coaching at local level. Both aim at providing participants with knowledge, skills and capacities needed to foster young people’s reflection on their own identity and helping them express it through the creation and distribution of digital media. Participants will explore how to engage young people in the media activities in a non-formal learning environment; how to foster young people’s communication skills in a participatory, inclusive and non-discriminatory process; how to support them in identifying the relevant issues and express them through the short and meaningful digital media; how to support young people in creating an effective distribution strategy of the media products to reach out and have an impact on their families, friends, local community and broader audience.
This training is organised and ran by the YEPP IRC Media Division EmpowerMediaNetwork (EMN).
Entrepreneurship in communities with fewer opportunities is one of the priority fields for YEPP IRC engagement. YEPP IRC is continuously developing the working solutions in which workshops and trainings combined with coaching are offered as Entrepreneurship Education package.
The workshops are designed for young people and youth coaches from communities with fewer opportunities. During the workshops young people learn about how to develop their own entrepreneurial idea; how to market and communicate it; how to make financial planning and fundraising and make their ideas a success. Youth coaches learn about the tools of support of youth entrepreneurship, how to promote entrepreneurship in their communities and cooperate with other stakeholders in this field.
YEPP IRC International Workshop “Working solutions for young people: Skills and jobs to empower youth and communities across Europe”, October 2012, Berlin, Germany.
YEPP IRC seeks to influence public and independent policies to ensure that the principles of youth empowerment, community empowerment and partnership become mainstream and are transformed into action at all levels. The knowledge base, expertise and experience of advocacy work is capitalised in the Advocacy package which consists of specific training and coaching modules and supported by the YEPP Advocacy Manual.
The training and coaching modules are designed for communities outside the YEPP Community Network willing to engage in the advocacy work at local and/or international level and build cross-sectorial partnerships and lobbying groups with other stakeholders.
