JochenSchellJochen Schell Director, YEPP IRC

Jochen Schell, Director of YEPP IRC since April 2012, has more than fifteen years of professional experience in the field of project management, human resources, marketing, communications, event organization, film making and journalism. Being a polyglot fluent in German, English, French and Spanish, he is a polyvalent entrepreneur who has run projects as well as his own companies and non-profit organisations in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. In recent years, he has specialized in the field of human rights, has become a strong advocate in Child and Youth participation and finished a Master degree in Children’s Rights and Childhood Studies at the Free University of Berlin through which he has run and organized numerous workshops and training programmes for children and young people at an international level.

TatjanaKatsberg          Dr. Tetiana Katsbert Deputy Director, YEPP IRC

Tetiana Katsbert joined the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme in February 2010. In her position as Programme Officer, she has led trainings in participatory evaluation, consulted the Local Teams in empowerment and advocacy strategies, and co-developed and managed the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme at transnational level.
Tetiana has 8 years of work experience in international community development programmes and 2 years experience in the business sector.

She has worked as project team leader for a number of European institutions in Ukraine, Hungary and Germany, e.g. European Commission’s Delegation to Ukraine, Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Goethe Institute, Centre for Policy Studies Budapest, etc. Her research was published in some renowned political and socio-economic European journals. Tetiana holds a Ph.D. degree in linguistics from the National Shevchenko University, Kyiv, and a master’s degree in public policy from Central European University, Budapest. Tetiana is multilingual and enjoys working in the multicultural environment of the YEPP Community. Her slogan is: “Let’s turn challenges into opportunities”.

          Aleksandra Bednarska

Administrator and Event coordinator, YEPP IRC

Aleksandra is a public funds manager with project management experience. She has worked for various non-profit organisations in Germany and Poland, where she was implementing EU-projects and local civic initiatives. During her most recent project, she was implementing and administering the Programme "3x1 macht stark!", a cooperation with Save the Children Germany. Aleksandra joined the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme in March 2017 and she will be in charge of finances and administration, as well as event management and our socia media activities..

AngelikaKrugerAngelika Krüger Chair, Steering Committee & Consultant,
YEPP IRC

Angelika Krüger is Vice President of the International Academy for innovative Pedagogy, Psychology and Economics (INA) gGmbH at the Freie Universität Berlin and Director of the Institute for Community Education.

In the late 1990s, Angelika initiated and developed the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme together with a group of colleagues from the European Foundation Centre, the College of Europe and a group of European and US foundations. She was the Programme Director for the whole programme period from 2001 till 2011. In January 2012, YEPP IRC was established at the Institute for Community Education. Angelika provides supervision and consultancy on strategic issues for the YEPP IRC Director and Team and is the Chair of the YEPP IRC Steering Committee.

Professional background: researcher in educational innovations in various countries of Europe and the United States; university lecturer in teacher training; moderator and trainer in early childhood education and social pedagogy; evaluator of school reform, youth and cultural projects; consultant to the European Foundation Centre (EFC) and a number of German and international foundations; founder and executive director of national and international support agencies and networks, including the German Community Education Centre (CEC) and the European Regional Office of the International Community Education Association (ICEA).

Fields of expertise: community development, community education, active citizenship, community schools, children and youth empowerment, intercultural education, self-initiative and entrepreneurship, development of curricula and quality performance standards, action research and participatory evaluation, urban renewal, social inclusion of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, non-formal education and learning, international transfer of knowledge, public-private partnership.

ThomasHandrichThomas Handrich
Consultant, YEPP IRC

Thomas Handrich is German, and works as a YEPP IRC consultant since 2008. In the last years he has been focusing on the support for the YEPP Local Site in Slovakia which is composed of several  villages where the Roma minority lives. Beside his work with YEPP IRC he is heading international projects in civic education (training programmes, workshops and individual consultations)  in Belarus, Poland, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo. The topics he covers are community development,  strengthening   civil society initiatives, how to deal with a difficult past and thinking about social alternatives to the dominant market economy. Thomas has studied political sciences, worked  for 11 years as a desk officer for Europe in a political foundation in Germany (Böll Foundation, close to the green party) and he likes to cycle, he is also organizing political bicycle trips (more see: www.politische-radreisen.de).

AndreaSerafiniAndrea Serafini Coordinator, EmpowerMediaNetwork (EMN)

Andrea Serafini is the Coordinator of the EmpowerMediaNetwork (EMN), the integrated Media division of YEPP IRC. He was born and lives in Italy and has a diploma in cinematography and an MA in Film Production. He worked both as a Documentary and Fiction director for the major Italian broadcasters and his short films participated to various festivals worldwide where they won several awards. In 2004 he became interested in using media to foster youth and community empowerment and was one of the funding members of the Video community association. At the same time, he started collaborating with the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme, where he contributed to the establishment of the international network EmpowerMediaNetwork (EMN) and contributed to the developed of a specific methodology for designing and running workshops and international exchanges centered on digital media. He lived and worked in the United Kingdom for several years and speaks fluent English and has a good command of French. He is a member of the Italian Film Academy and he currently works as Coordinator of the EmpowerMediaNetwork and as a Media Consultant for the Italian foundation Compagnia di San Paolo. He is also the coordinator of the Media Packages which are developed and commercialised by YEPP IRC.
